Decade in Review
Journey January 2nd, 2010
As is normal, when a decade comes to an end, a review of the past ten years is in order, and being typical, and average, I had to reflect and attempt to come up with a personal theme, a word to encapsulate the last 10 years on earth. If I had to choose a reflective word, the one which comes to mind would be Trans-formative.
From a national perspective we were transformed from a people who felt secure into a populous violated by our own arrogance. We were a nation basking in the idolatry of blind consumerism into a people teetering upon total financial collapse. We were a nation thinking everything we did was good for the entire earth, but came to see the results of personal interest over global realities. The question for the next decade is, if we are a people transformed, what shall we become?
Personally, over the past 10 years, I was transformed from one who had been swallowed up into the grips of addiction into the person I am today, alive in more ways than one. The covenant of trust I made with God, walking a make sift labyrinth five years ago, has transformed my entire being. The joy I tend to exude, which may appear to some as my own defense against the realities of life, is nothing more than the result of my spiritual transformation. In these past ten years I went from death to life. The question for the next decade is, how will this new life manifest itself?
